The MUMC is closely affiliated with the NIH-funded MU Mutant Mouse Resource and Research Center (MMRRC) and Rat Resource and Research Center (RRRC). Through collaboration with those centers, we are able to provide an unmatched range of services for the characterization of complex microbial communities and generation of mice and rats harboring a desired gut microbiota. Sequencing and informatics analysis are performed at the MU DNA Core and Informatics Research Core facilities.
How should I collect fecal samples?
How “fresh” do the samples need to be?
How much/many samples should I send per animal?
What’s an appropriate “n”?
Does it matter if the samples come in contact with urine or other biological fluids?
Does the order of fecal pellet matter?
Does the time of day that I collect samples matter?
How should I ship the samples?
